The Community of Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth, Jamaica

Located in Billy's Bay, Treasure Beach, JAarts stands within a community rich in history, tracing its lineage back to Maroon and Scottish settlers. Treasure Beach, located in the southern parish of St. Elizabeth, is a vibrant fishing and farming community renowned for its warm hospitality and commitment to sustainable tourism. Unlike traditional resort destinations, Treasure Beach offers visitors an authentic, uncommercialized Caribbean experience.

With stunning natural beaches and a history deeply rooted in artistry and craftsmanship, the community thrives on a rich cultural foundation. Generations of residents have been raised among gospel, mento, and reggae musicians, skilled artisans, boat builders, and storytellers, preserving a legacy of material and musical culture. Despite its tourism-driven economy, Treasure Beach residents seek sustainable opportunities beyond the industry. JAarts aims to empower the community by fostering economic and personal growth through artistic education and skill-building.

Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, Treasure Beach faced devastating losses, including home destruction and extensive damage to essential infrastructure. Beyond the physical impact, the storm deeply affected the emotional and economic well-being of the community.

JAarts is committed to supporting recovery efforts by providing a safe, creative space for residents to heal and rebuild. Through arts education and skills training, we strive to empower individuals to harness creativity as a means of personal and economic growth.
